PDP: You can't suspend Atiku, says Turaki Vanguard

LOYALISTS of Vice President Atiku Abubakar have vowed to resist any attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend their mentor from the party.

LOYALISTS of Vice President Atiku Abubakar have vowed to resist any attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend their mentor from the party.

"We shall resist plans to humiliate Vice President Abubakar out of the PDP with the last drop of our blood," they warned.

The supporters under the aegis of Turaki Vanguard alleged that the planned suspension would be predicated on an alleged romance with promoters of the newly formed Movement for the Defence of Democracy (MDD).

The National Media Director of Turaki Vanguard, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, who disclosed this in a statement in Yola, Adamawa State weekend further claimed that his group had uncovered a plot by the Dr. Ahmadu Ali-led PDP national leadership to humiliate some founding elders of the party.

Already he said Chief Solomon Lar, Chief Audu Ogbeh and Ambassador Yahaya Kwande have been suspended as part of the grand design to frustrate them from the PDP.

Chief Eze called on Nigerians to hold President Olusegun Obasanjo, chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, National Chairman. Ali and the party's secretary Chief Ojo Maduekwe responsible for the failure of the nation's present democratic experiment.

"The action of these people in denying the founding fathers of PDP membership cards as well as frustrating their interest and ambitions in the party is now forcing these great Nigerians out of PDP, the party they laboured for" he stated.

He noted that the vice president has remained steadfast in his resolve not to leave the PDP despite several attempts by those not comfortable with his soaring political image to frustrate him out.

He highlighted some of the measures to frustrate Atiku as the denial of Atiku's loyalists the chance of serving in any board of parastatal when the Boards were recently reconstituted.

His loyalists, he said were also dropped from the list of nominees for ministerial appointments while some of his personal staff were relieved of their appointments without his knowledge amongst others.

Chief Eze also alerted of alleged plots by the Federal Government to destabilize Adamawa State so as to impose a state of emergency on the state.

"The next plot is to start off the suspension of the Vice President by January 2006 starting from his ward in his home state which is expected to create a state of anarchy preparatory to the imposition of a state emergency in Adamawa," he stated.

Chief Eze alleged another strategy is to release a document containing all manner of falsehood, lies and fabricated business deals which is expected to dent the image and person of the vice president to checkmate his 2007 Presidential ambition.

"Today, Senator Ahmadu Ali has reduced PDP to an institution that does not have any respect for the rule of law, court orders and democratic principles," he added.

He therefore warned the PDP leadership not to further raise the political temperature of the country by engaging in a mission that will create tension noting that if Vice President Abubakar wants to leave the PDP he will do so voluntarily because he joined the party voluntarily
